Computer use is rapidly becoming integrated in all our lives, young or old. It would be a disservice to our children if this mode of learning was not combined with traditional education. Therefore, this portion of the website will be dedicated to educational or therapeutic software. Computer software can further enhance the skills of the child who excels or help to remediate the skills of the child who is struggling. For example, software programs may help children with learning disabilities keep up in the classroom. These types of programs allow papers to be scanned and then read to the child by the computer. The child could also type a report on the computer with assistance. In this manner he could be learning the same science information as another child his age even if his reading and/or spelling are well below his age level. Also, some kids who do not respond to traditional methods, such as flashcards, respond better to learning or practicing the same info on the computer. Children who excel may benefit from a program that teaches another language or enhances vocabulary or grammar. In addition, if I can find educational games for the popular gaming systems then they will be placed here as well. Overall, various types of software and gaming programs will be included in this portion of the website.
